DiGi WWWOW Awards 2011

Yesterday, my phone rang and it was Dewi

"Nuffnang called just now and asked me if I'd like to attend a press conference about ... DiGi award ... something like that. Would you like to come with me?"

"Where?"

"DiGi House."

"Do I have to wear formal or casual?"

"Don't know. Just wear anything."

"Okay."

I thought it was a good opportunity to go to this event because I've never been to any press conference before. I felt kinda nervous. Mestilah nervous sebab ni first time gi press conference.MySpace

So, there, the press conference started with the introduction of a young blogger. His name is Jacob. He has a blog and he posts videos on YouTube too. And he's only 9, if I'm not mistaken. He talks mostly about guns (not the real guns) and life experiences (apparently this 9 year old boy has so many life experiences that he's able to talk about it in his blog). IMPRESSIVE I must say!MySpace

After the chitchat session with Jacob, Su Lin (one of the committees of this DiGi WWWOW Awards) announced that Malaysia is the 16 ... or is it 18 ... I'm not sure ... never mind ... country in the world that has the largest number of Facebook users. And she went on explaining more statistics but that's not really the point. The point of the press conference is to inform us (all of us) that DiGi in collaboration with other vendors ; MSN Malaysia, Yahoo! Malaysia, Nuffnang, Lowyat.net, MAS, Mudah.com.my, Google Malaysia and Flickr is going to organize DiGi WWWOW Awards 2011.

DiGi WWWOW Awards is an award show like Oscar, Grammy, Academy that pays tribute to ordinary Malaysian who are doing extraordinary things online from publishing their own opinions, producing their own TV shows, starting new business or mobilizing the power of the internet for good causes.

Simply put, DiGi WWWOW Awards ni kira macam award show untuk bloggers, youtubers dan siapa-siapa lah yang beroperasi melalui internet. Berita baik kepada semua bloggers dan youtubers di luar sana, you guys boleh nominate-kan you guys punya blog, site, video etc and then promote it in your Facebook so that people can vote for you. Su Lin told us that every winners will get a prize worth not less than 5K. How awesome is that!
