Monday [28 February 2011]

Usually, on Monday, the best word to describe me is 'torpid'. I think you know why. Two days of weekend seemed to be insufficient to fully restore my energy. Blame myself for that. The usual activities during the weekend would be staying up the whole night just to virtually socialize through Facebook, reading blog entries, downloading songs from Gallivanter, Skype-ing with my significant other, Chatroulette-ing with strangers which is kinda dumb, shopping at Uptown, playing CLUEDO with my housemates, eating heavy meal and watching porn.

Haha! Part watching porn tu cuma gurauan semata-mata tau. It should never happen. Saya tidak buat benda tu sebab saya budak baik, walaupun dulu saya pernah tertengok. Note the prefix 'ter' before the word 'tengok' OK. It signifies that I had no intention of watching it in the first place. OK?

Back to my original story, today was quite different than the other previous Mondays. I actually felt very energetic today. Why? I have no idea. Let's just assume that I had enough beauty sleep during the previous two days. Yep, that is probably the reason.

But then, when I checked my organizer, my head felt like exploding. This week is going to be hectic as hell. There will be tests, submission of assignments, replacement classes up to 8 hours which is like WTF, workshops, majlis amanat and so on and so forth. A lot isn't it?

What should I do now? I think I should pray. Or maybe go somewhere on a vacation. Yep, I think I need a vacation. I need a break from all these, whatever these are.

Hm. Rasa macam mau pergi ke Paris tapi bila fikir tentang kos, terus tukar fikiran. How about Bali? Hm. Maybe. We'll see.

Peserta tambahan AF9?

Mengejutkan.

Menghairankan.

Melucukan.

Saya sendiri pun memang literally demam tapi bukan sebab AF. Saya demam sebab saya demam lah. Hehe~ So, disebabkan itu, sekarang ni peminat-peminat AF memang rancak bercakap tentang bakal peserta-peserta AF yang terakhir ni.

Dalam keriuhan itu, tiba-tiba ada suara mengatakan,

And then responses yang macam ni pula menyusul.

Hehe~ Tidak lama selepas tu handphone saya berbunyi. Mesej-mesej macamni pula masuk.

Kesian. Kesian. Hehe~

Walau apa pun, saya tetap bangga. At least, saya dapat merasa pengalaman jadi calon peserta AF walaupun sekadar gosip. Hehe~ So, for once and for all, saya mau mengumumkan, saya bukan peserta AF9. Jangan percaya khabar angin tu. Kalau kamu mau tau siapa bakal pelajar-pelajar AF yang betul, [CLICK] sini. Tahniah kepada semua yang di-shortlisted. All the best! And special all-the-best wish to my friend Arie.

Proud of Cindai

First, I have to warn / inform you readers that the language used in this entry is completely rojak between English and Malay. Kalau ada yang tidak suka tu, I'm so sorry. This is how I write sometimes.

Entah kenapa tiba-tiba sahaja kawan saya yang seorang ni, Pai, sangat bersemangat mau nyanyi / dengar lagu-lagu tradisional semalam. Mungkin dia terlebih makan pil tradisional or mungkin dia saja mau tunjuk semangat patriotik. Haha~ I was like, what's wrong with you?

Don't get me wrong people. I'm not underestimating our traditional songs. In fact, I love them. I repeat, I LOVE THEM. I'm saying that because Pai doesn't usually sing traditional songs. But I know he loves them dearly.

A bit redundant there, don't you think so?

So, back to my original story, terima kasih yang tidak terhingga kepada Pai sebab memperkenalkan saya kepada lagu Cindai versi bahasa Cina (Mandarin). So thank you so much Pai. I've listened to it and I must say, I am PROUD. To have someone from other country to sing that song in their language means a lot. It subsequently shows that people outside our country have acknowledged our existence. Therefore, we should be proud. Betul?

Haa. Ni lah video lagu Cindai versi bahasa Cina tu. Kawan-kawan semua kena tengok dulu.

video

Well, ini perkara normal. The best thing to do is to believe in your beliefs and preferences.

Again, I want to thank my buddy, Pai. Sebab dia, saya tau kewujudan lagu Cindai versi Mandarin, dan sebab tu, saya buat entry pasal ni. Kira macam domino effect lah. Hehe~

Saya suka dengar penyanyi Chien Bai Hui nyanyi some parts of the song (Cindai) dalam bahasa asal iaitu bahasa Melayu. She said that she couldn't alter the original lyric to Mandarin language due to its beautiful and poetic composition (Wikipedia). Memang terbukti bahasa Melayu ni sangat indah. Seikhlasnya, saya bangga. Walaupun saya bukan Melayu, saya akui, bahasa Melayu memang indah.

Saya punya Melayu masih tunggang langgang.

Kisah Fanzi, Fara & Fai

Kasihan sungguh 3 sekawan nih. Hubungan kami bertiga memang rapat. Kami share semua benda. Maksud saya, share idea, kegembiraan, kesedihan, kesusahan, kesenangan dan lain-lain. Share pakaian tu confirm lah tidak. Sebab saiz badan kami berbeza. Saya tidak boleh pakai pakaian Fai. Fai pun tidak boleh pakai pakaian saya. Pakaian Fara? Hmm, itu jangan cakaplah. Hehe~

So, apa lagi benda yang kami share?

Jeng!

Jeng!

Jeng!

Kami share penyakit. Haha~ Ini kisah betul. Bukan rekaan semata-mata. Kami bertiga selsema sekarang. Ketara sangat kami sakit.

Ramai orang kena serang penyakit selsema sekarang ni. I don't know why. Sekarang maybe musim sakit. So, you guys yang masih sihat, jagalah kesihatan anda. Menyusahkan.

I'm sorry to Fara & Fai because I think I've infected them with my virus. I'm such a 'good friend'.

Ni dia video zombie Shah Alam. There goes my beautiful voice. Haha~ Kidding.

Myers-Briggs Personality Test

Have you ever heard of the Myers-Briggs Preference Questionnaire?

Yes?

No?

Not sure?

It's actually a set of questions designed to help us see who we really are. Do you believe in this kind of thing? Well, it is all up to you to believe or not. But it's always fun to find out who you really are, isn't it?

So, Madam H (my lecturer) gave me the questionnaire and I took the test.

Based on my answers, it has been decided that I am a Dominant Introverted Feeling type of person.

According to Myers and Briggs, this type of people are:

Usually gentle and kind, intense and passionate about their values and deeply held beliefs, which they share with trusted friends. Because of their discreet manner, their enthusiasm may not be apparent. They are sensitive to others' pain, restlessness or general discomfort and strive to find happiness, balance and wholeness for themselves in order to help others find joy, satisfaction and plenitude.
They live in an intently personal fashion, acting on the belief that each person is unique and that social norms are to be respected only if they do not hinder personal development or expression. They strive to adhere to their own high personal moral standards and are particularly sensitive to inconsistencies in their environment between what is being said and what is being done. Empty promises of adhering to something they value - such environmental causes or human rights - set off an inner alarm and they may transform themselves into modern day Joan of Arcs.
They are quietly persistent in raising awareness of cherished causes and often fight for the underdog in quiet or not-so-quiet ways. In a team, they will raise issues of integrity, authenticity and good or bad, and may to opt out if the team refuses to address the questions raised. They are usually tolerant and open-minded, insightful, flexible and understanding. They live for the understanding of others and feel deeply grateful when someone takes the time to get to know them personally. They have good listening skills, are genuinely concerned, insightful, and usually avid readers. At their best, they inspire others to be themselves.

So, what do you think? This next question is dedicated to my friends and family. Do you think the description represents me well?

Frankly speaking, most of the things (not all) mentioned up there describe exactly who I am. Except off course the 'avid reader' part. I don't like reading at all. I prefer to listen and watch.

So you see, I'm a good person inside. Outside, you'll definitely see me looking like a murderer or a beggar. The latter is better I guess.

P/S: It's always nice to find out good things about ourselves. It makes us realize that we are just human beings. Not a devil or an angel.

Protege Salmah Asis = Mentor Erra Fazira

Fuh!

Mentor dia bukan calang-calang orang. Mentor dia Erra Fazira.

Wowowowow!

Siapa menang? Off course lah dia menang. So, memang confirm lah dia berbakat. Honestly speaking, when I heard her voice for the first time, imej penyanyi yang timbul di minda saya  ialah imej Charice Pempengco. Her voice is superbly amazing. She is so good that I could imagine Charice Pempengco singing in front of me.

Kalau mau tau kehebatan dia, tengoklah video-video ni.

Hebat kan? Tadi dia call. Dia cakap dia tengah buat photoshoot. Wah, bestnya dia. Lepas ni jadi artis jangan lupa diri tau. Itu yang paling penting. She is a sweet girl. Dia memang peramah. So nanti kalau show MENTOR sudah start, undilah Salmah Asis.

Salmah bersama Mentor, Erra Fazira.

Sepetang bersama Fara.

Fara baru balik daripada Bali, Indonesia. Dia excited mau share pengalaman sepanjang dia berada di sana. So, sekali lagi, kami berchit-chat melalui handphone di dalam kelas. Berikut adalah perbualan kami. Untuk pengetahuan anda, perbualan ini tidak di-edit. Ini perbualan kami yang original.

Journal 2: Culture

As we live, we are bound to certain cultural aspects. We live with our culture. Culture is important in distinguishing our identity in the society. Culture concerns most parts of our live. Throughout the time, some cultural values had vanished since those values were no longer relevant to our life nowadays. However, there are still many cultural values that remain practiced by the society.

My race is Dusun. However, I don’t really know how to describe its cultural values back then. Half of my relatives are Chinese and I’m proud to say that I’m living in a multicultural environment. My father embraced Islam when he married my mother and since then, we live based on Islamic values. I’m not familiar with Chinese and Dusun’s traditions at all. We all know that culture evolves through time. So does my culture.

As far as I know, when we talk about culture, we will talk about ones’ lifestyle. This refers to their way of living for example they way they communicate with each other. This concerns moral values, tradition, the language being used and so many other aspects.

I believe in all cultures, good moral values have always become the strength. It’s important to ensure a good and peaceful life in the society. One thing that I always do even until now is to greet the old folks especially my parents. I always believe in being kind to the old folks because whenever I see them, I’ll automatically picture myself being old. All of us are going to be old one day and when the time comes, we unquestionably want to be treated nicely by the younger ones. This has always been a part of my cultural values as my parents have raised me that way and reminded me to be respectful towards the old people.

I think this value needs to be preserved throughout the time because it’s a noble thing to do. It’s important to show respect to the old ones because without them, we won’t be living in our world today. As for me, before I leave the house for example when it’s time for me to go back to school, I always kiss my mother’s hand to show my respect and appreciation to her. Moreover, she’s the only parent I have right now and I definitely want to have the best time with her before she leaves.

This is definitely one of the values that I will make sure my children would practice later. There’s nothing more satisfying than respecting the old folks. Without them, we wouldn’t be here.

Journal 1: Advices

I am very thankful to have such good parents. They taught me so many wonderful things about life. I still remember the moments when my father was still around. He passed away 5 years ago when I was 16 years old. The only parent I have right now is my mother.

My father was a teacher. He encouraged me to be a teacher because he said teaching is a noble occupation. When I was small, he used to tell me a story. It was his story actually. He told me that he was once a very poor boy who was always bullied by other kids. His parents died when he was still very small and he had to live with another family. He grew up eating tapioca because he could not afford rice.

He wanted to go to school but it was not as easy as he thought. His stepparents did not want him to go to school. He really wanted to go to school and the only way he could do that was by ducking out from his stepparents. In the school, he had to stand outside the classroom as the teacher would not allow him to enter. The headmaster took him into the class and allowed him to study with the rest of the students.

He managed to do well in his study without his stepparents’ consent. He passed the exam and was offered to further his study in Maktab Perguruan Gaya which is now known as Institut Perguruan Guru Malaysia Kampus Gaya, which coincidentally is where I’m studying.

After telling me his story, he would tell me that education is very important for our family as it is the only way we can survive and get a better life. He advised me to work hard and keep studying for the rest of my life. He reminded me that there is no gain without pain.

When I think about it now, I always end up asking myself how he managed to go through all that challenges alone. I’m a university student and will eventually be a teacher, just like him. The story of his life and his advices will always be my strength in pursuing a better life in the future. Thanks father.

Keywords: Bintang Idola Berita Harian 2011 | Mid Valley | Nando's

Today (19/02/2011) was considerably awesome. Why? Sebab hari ni hari 'go-out' kami. Siapa kami? Off course lah saya, Pai & Awang.

Saya bangun awal pagi hari ni sebab mau pergi try audition Bintang Idola Berita Harian 2011 di SACC Mall, Shah Alam. Actually, saya tidak tau pun pasal audition ni until abang Amir Rayyan bagitau. Dia suruh saya cuba nasib. Manatau kalau ada rezeki, saya boleh menang. Thanks so much abang Amir for informing.

Tapi.

Malangnya.

Saya tidak dapat join pun audition tu. Kenapa? Sebab peserta audition dihadkan cuma 120 orang saja. Waktu saya sampai sana, ramai orang sudah 'serang' meja registration. Jadi niat untuk join pun terkubur setakat disitu saja. But it's OK. There's always next time. Antaranya, Bahari & Amri (TESL course-mates). Hehe~

Ni lah semua 120 orang peserta audition.

Ini video Amri & Bahari. Dorang nyanyi OK.

Selepas tu, saya, Pai & Awang pergi jalan-jalan cari makan di Mid Valley. Sampai saja disana, kami terus 'serang' restoran Nando's. Awang order 1/4 chicken. Saya & Pai masing-masing order 1/2 chicken. Hebat kan? Haha~

Ni dia 1/2 chicken. Hoho~

Selepas tu, kami plan tengok wayang. Kami tengok The Rite. Movie ni ada seram sikitlah. Cerita dia berkisar tentang exorcism. Yang paling penting, movie ni based on real events. Saya bagi 3.5 stars out of 5. Bagus!

Ni trailer movie The Rite.

After the movie, we decided to play bowling. Siapa yang menang? Cuba teka. Siapa lagi kalau bukan saya. Haha~ Menang tipis saja sebenarnya.

Selesai main bowling, kami pun pulang. Memang penat tapi best.

P/S: Looking forward for the next outing with my boys.

Undi Bakal Peserta AF9 Sekarang!

Wah, nampaknya demam Akademi Fantasia 9 sudah bermula!

Saya terus demam bila dapat tau one of my friends, Arie, is one of the candidates shortlisted. Tahun lepas ada Adira. Tahun ni pula ada Arie. Both are my friends and they are indeed very talented. Entah bilalah giliran saya ni. Huhu~ Anyway, congrats Arie. I hope you'll make it this year.

Haa. Confirm kamu semua mesti tertanya-tanya kan macamana saya boleh kenal Arie. Cerita dia begini. Kami pernah sama-sama bertanding nyanyi dalam Sugandoi Kaamatan tahun 2010. Siapa menang time tu? Off course lah dia (Arie) yang menang. Saya sekadar finalist saja. Susah mau beat dia nih. Dia cukup pakej. Suara dia yang husky tu memang sedap. Showmanship pun memang hebat. Orangnya pun comel pula tu. Haha~ Kamu tidak percaya? Kamu tengoklah sendiri kalau tidak percaya.

Ni pula video dia time ujibakat AF9. Woohoo! Siap buat break dance lagi. Mantaplah Arie.

Sekarang kamu percaya? Memang talented kan? I do believe he can be AF9's champion. All the bestlah to you Arie. Sekarang kau famous sudah, saya tumpang jealous gembira sajalah. Hehe~

Ni ada beberapa gambar saya dengan Arie. Mau tayang juga. Ni gambar-gambar sebelum dia jadi famous. Mahal nih. Hehe~

Ni masa pertandingan Sugandoi Kaamatan 2010.

Arie and I with Mommy Martha Ginun.

Lepas ni confirm jarang dapat jumpa dia. All the best Arie.

Jom semua undi Arie di website ASTRO. [CLICK] ni untuk mengundi. Let's support Arie because he is very talented. He deserves a spot in AF9. Again, all the best Arie.

P/S: Jangan sombong-sombong tau kalau sudah glamour. Hee~

Welcome to the world, Jimmy Neutron.

This is going be very brief, I hope so.

My sister called just now and told me that my sister (the other sister) had safely given birth to a baby boy at 8 PM last night (17 February 2011). Yeah, I have a new nephew! So altogether, I have like 2+4+2+1+4+1=14 anak buahs. Woah! Suddenly, I feel old. Huhu~

The boy weighs at 3.6+ Kg or 3.4+ Kg (I'm not so sure, sorry). Wow, that's quite heavy for a newborn Asian baby. He must be BIG. He already has a nickname, Jimmy Neutron. I wonder why they give him that nickname. Maybe his hair is similar with the cartoon character. I shall see what he looks like. I'm now waiting for someone to MMS his photo. I'm excited.

Wondering if he looks like this. Haha~

Kalau tiada, seperti biasa, sunyi sepilah blog ni. Kalau kamu perasan, dulu saya banyak menulis dalam bahasa Inggeris. Lepas ni kalau rajin, pergilah tengok entries saya yang terdahulu. Kalau tidak rajin, tidak apa. Bukan wajib pun. Hehe~ Sekarang ni, rasanya saya lagi banyak menulis dalam bahasa Melayu. Minta maaflah sebab bahasa Melayu saya skema.

Ramai orang bagitau saya, "Ko patut tulis dalam B.I la Fanzi." Terima kasih atas cadangan itu. Saya menulis ikut mood. Kalau saya rasa mau tulis dalam bahasa Inggeris, saya tulislah. Kalau tidak, saya tulislah dalam bahasa Melayu. Semuanya bergantung kepada mood.

Pendek kata, terima kasih kepada orang-orang yang sudi buka blog saya & baca karangan-karangan mengarut ni. Terima kasih sebab bagi komen. Komen tu tidaklah banyak sampai beratus-ratus. Setakat 2-3 komen saja tapi saya suka baca komen-komen kamu ni. Walaupun kadang-kadang saya tidak reply komen tu tapi tidak bermakna saya tidak baca. Saya baca semua sebenarnya. Hehe~ Anyway, terima kasih.

P/S: Assignments belum siap lagi ni. Tapi tidak apa. Demi blog, saya sanggup berkorban. Hehe~

When I fall in doldrums...

Suddenly, I got bored while in class just now. Fara pinjam phone saya & start menaip. Tidak lama selepas tu, kami rupa-rupanya sudah mula berchatting through my phone. Madam A ada di belakang time tuh. Tapi dia tidak nampak kami. Sebab kami terer sembunyi. Hoho~

This is our pointless conversation. Perbualan ini ditaip semula dalam original form. Maksudnya, bahasa dan ejaan tidak diubah.

Font warna biru Fara punya.
Font warna merah saya punya.

Hye funzy i suke la handphone u ni.tp mcm ssh plk taw maw type
MOTIFFF??
Ala awak ni sombom la
motif ckp sy sombong????
Hurm.kalau cmni la awak bhave, tak pyh la nak jd artis!
Amboi mulut!! Ada insurans keww???
Jgn kate insuran mulut, tgn kaki lubang hidung pon ade insurans taw.mak taw mak laser,da standby insurans siap2 da.
Nak tampar mulut buleh keww????
Oh! Rasenye tak boleh KOT???
Hm, xde insurans le tuh!! Huhu.
=.='

Haa. Tu dia. Bagus sangatlah sebab ketawa tu bagus untuk release stress and stay young. Hahaha~

P/S: Dua kali saya ponteng kelas Madam A, dua kali tu jugak dia bengang macam sial marah-marah students dalam kelas. Kali ni saya masuk kelas, dia sweet, lemah & lembut pula. Mungkinkah ia disebabkan oleh kehadiran saya? Adakah saya ni penyejuk kepanas-hatiannya? Hehehehe~ OK, kawan-kawan yang faham cerita ni sila muntah sekarang. Sekian terima kasih.

Sami Yusuf's Without You & My Ummah

Buying Sami Yusuf's albums was one of the stuff that I put in my wishlist ever since I listened to his songs - Mother and Asma Allah. I fell in love with these two songs.

Religious songs are the best songs ever. Sebelum ni saya jarang dengar lagu-lagu nasyid ataupun lagu-lagu yang berunsur keagamaan. Now, I'm addicted to these kind of songs. Lagu-lagu keagamaan (nasyid) ni mengingatkan saya tentang kebesaran Allah S.W.T dan tujuan kita hidup di dunia ini selaku hamba-Nya.

Saya bukanlah seorang Muslim yang baik. Most of the time, I forgot to remember Him. I want to change that. I want to remember Him all the time. Tapi most of the time saya lupa. Godaan dunia memang kuat.

Sekali dengar macam lagu-lagu hip hop. Dua kali dengar macam lagu  techno. Walaubagaimanapun, ke-hip hop-an & ke-techno-an susunan muzik lagu-lagu tu tidaklah keterlaluan. Just nice.

Saya beli dua album Sami Yusuf - Without You & My Ummah. Dalam album Without You, lagu-lagu yang saya suka ialah Asma Allah (one of my favourites), Without You, Sallou, A Thousand TimesNever Never (lagu ni unik sebab ada part dalam lagu tu yang sangat laju). Dalam album My Ummah pula, lagu-lagu yang saya suka ialah Mother (one of my favourites), My Ummah, Ya Rasulullah, Make A PrayerFree (saya sangat suka susunan muzik lagu ni).

Overall, dua album Sami Yusuf ni memang best. I give 4 stars out of 5. I'm looking forward to find more nasyid albums. Insyaallah.

P/S: I'm trying to be a good Muslim, insyaallah.

Valentine's Day is a very special day.

Yup, the title says it all.

Valentine's Day memang hari yang sangat istimewa bagi saya. Kenapa?

Sebab hari tu ialah hari kelahiran mama saya. Actually, the day is special not because of Valentine's Day itself. It's special because it's my mom's birthday. My mom sudah berumur 60 tahun. Wah! Cepatnya masa berlalu.

My friends a.k.a house mates (Pai, Awang & Raf) siap nyanyi lagu birthday untuk dia lagi. Saya sangat terharu. The least I could do is wish her happy birthday. I know it means a lot to her.

Amin.

Saya SANGAT sayang kamu, Mak. I love you forever. Happy birthday.

P/S: I was supposed to post this entry yesterday.
